Calculator settings for IB
The settings to lock in once, and the angle mode you must check before every problem.
Press → 7: Settings & Status → 2: Document Settings. Move between fields with , open a dropdown with and pick with the arrow keys, then select Make Default so the choices stick for the Scratchpad and every new document.
Settings that should never change. Display Digits: Float 6, so answers show full working precision. A Fix setting silently rounds every answer and costs accuracy marks. Exponential Format: Normal, Real or Complex: Real, and Calculation Mode: Auto. Auto keeps exact results exact (32+61 comes back as a fraction), and (≈) evaluates any line as a decimal when you need one. These are the factory settings. Re-check them on a borrowed or reset calculator.
The one that changes: Radian vs Degree. Use Degree when the problem measures angles in degrees, and Radian for radian measure and any calculus that involves trig. The Nspire leaves the factory in Radian. Maths AI SL uses degrees only: set Degree once, make it the default, and never touch this row again. The RAD/DEG badge at the top of every page shows the current choice; make glancing at it a reflex.
Once: Float 6, Normal, Real, Auto, then Make Default. Every problem: check RAD vs DEG in the top bar (AI SL: always DEG).
