TI-Nspire CX II field manual for IB Math
A tour of the main screens
Where everything happens: the home screen, the graphing screens, the statistics lists, and the menus that hold the rest.
The home screen is the Nspire's starting point: press (also the on key) to reach it from anywhere. It offers the Scratchpad for quick work and Documents for saved work. For everyday IB calculations, press : a calculator page appears instantly. What you type stays on the left, the answer lands on the right, and older lines scroll upward so you can look back at them.
Graphing is the Scratchpad's other page: press again to flip to the Graph view. The cursor lands on the f1(x)= entry line. Type a function such as x2−3 and press to plot it. Once the cursor is out on the graph, brings it straight back to the entry line, so you can edit that function or add another without hunting for it. → 4: Window/Zoom controls how much of the plane you see (Zoom – Standard restores the default view).
To start over, → B: Clear Scratchpad → wipes it clean — both the calculator's history and the graph's functions — so you get a fresh calculation or a blank set of axes in one quick step.
Statistics lives in the Lists & Spreadsheet app: from the home screen () open a New Document and choose Add Lists & Spreadsheet. Name a column in its top cell, type your data values down the column, and → 4: Statistics → 1: Stat Calculations holds One-Variable Statistics and all the regressions. To empty a column of old data, move up onto its grey letter cell at the very top to select the whole column, then → 3: Data → 4: Clear Data clears it in one step.
The Finance Solver answers every compound-interest, loan, and annuity question. From the Scratchpad calculator press → 8: Finance → 1: Finance Solver: fill in what you know, move to the field you want with , and press to solve it. Here, 2000 invested at 5% for 10 years.
The polynomial tools are powerful tools for solving polynomials and simultaneous equations. From the Scratchpad calculator press → 3: Algebra: 3: Polynomial Tools → 1: Find Roots of Polynomial solves quadratics and cubics, and 2: Solve System of Linear Equations handles simultaneous equations. Here it finds the roots of x2−x−6 for you.
The menu key holds everything else. always opens the toolbox of the app you're in: Statistics and Distributions in Lists & Spreadsheet, Algebra and Finance on a calculator page, Window/Zoom and Analyze Graph on a graph. lists every command on the device, and backs out of any menu or dialog you didn't mean to open.
