TI-Nspire CX II field manual for IB Math
One-sample t-test
Use the calculator's test menu to run a one-sample t-test from summary statistics and read t and the p-value.
Test H0:μ=50 against Ha:μ>50 using xˉ=51.2, Sx=4.1, n=16.
From the Scratchpad calculator, press → 6: Statistics → 7: Stat Tests → 2: t Test. Set Data Input Method to Stats. If you had the raw data instead, choose Data here and select the list holding it; the Nspire computes the summary statistics itself.
Fill in the dialog, moving between fields with : μ0: 50, x̄: 51.2, sx: 4.1, n: 16, and set Alternate Hyp to Ha:μ>μ0.
Select OK and press . The test results land on the calculator page.
t≈1.17 and p≈0.130, so at the 5% level there is insufficient evidence to reject H0.
Your turn
Work each one on your calculator, then check the answer.
- 1
Test H0:μ=100 against Ha:μ>100 using xˉ=104.2, sx=9.5, n=20, at the 5% level.
