Reusing and editing calculations
Chain calculations with the last answer, recall earlier entries, and edit in place instead of retyping.
Chain with Ans by just pressing the operator. A savings account holds 2500 and grows 3.5% per year. Compute the first year — 2500 × 1.035 — then, on the empty line, simply press : the Casio writes Ans× for you. Type 1.035 , and again for year three. ( types Ans whenever you need it mid-expression.)
The history recalculates itself. Now suppose the deposit was 12500 instead. Don't retype anything: press until the first line is selected, press to open it for editing, change 2500 to 12500, and press . The Casio recalculates that line and every line below it — the whole three-year chain updates in place, like a spreadsheet.
Store anything you'll need again. Ans only ever holds the latest result, so park important values in a letter: type the value (or press for the answer on screen), then , then and a letter, then . The letters A–Z keep their values across apps and across switching off — and typing the stored letter into any later calculation carries full precision, which matters because feeding a rounded 3-significant-figure number back in is a classic way to lose the final accuracy mark.
Clearing, without losing your work. wipes only the line you are typing; the history above it stays, still scrollable and still editable. Pressed it by accident? (UNDO) brings the line back. The history survives visiting other apps and switching off, and only disappears if you delete it yourself: (DELETE) (DEL-ALL) and confirm.
Press an operator on an empty line and the Casio chains from Ans by itself. reaches any earlier line; edit it and recalculates everything beneath.
For values you'll reuse across apps, store to a letter with — full precision, no retyping.
