Exponential regression
Fit y=a⋅bx to paired data and read the fitted parameters.
Fit an exponential model to (0,5), (1,8), (2,11), (3,20), (4,31).
From the MAIN MENU, open Statistics. If you're already inside another app, press first to get back to MAIN MENU.
Enter the x-values 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 in List 1 and the y-values 5, 8, 11, 20, 31 in List 2. Press after each entry.
Press (CALC), then (SET) and set 2Var XList = List1, 2Var YList = List2, 2Var Freq = 1, then . Press (REG), then (▶) to reach the second strip, then (EXP) and (ab^x). The a⋅ebx variant sits on .
The calculator uses the form y=a⋅bx, so the model is y≈4.90(1.58)x, with r≈0.997.
Your turn
Work each one on your calculator, then check the answer.
